Godawan Artisanal Single Malt Whisky, the brainchild of The Good Craft Co. from Diageo India, has added three more international accolades under its belt. Crafted in Rajasthan, the Indian single malt is rapidly solidifying its position as a global leader in liquid innovation and design. These prestigious wins add to Godawan’s record tally of 50+ national and international accolades – establishing it as the most-awarded Indian single malt in recent times.
New York International Spirits Competition
Godawan was declared ‘Indian Whisky Producer of the Year’ at the 2024 New York International Spirits Competition, the only global spirits competition judged by real trade buyers. The brand’s expressions, 01 Rich & Rounded and 02 Fruit & Spice, both earned 95 points and were awarded Gold Medals. The spirit awards are evaluated through blind tasting sessions by a panel of top trade buyers.
International Taste Institute Awards
Godawan’s Collector’s Edition, Godawan 100, was awarded ‘Best Single Malt’ at the 2024 International Taste Institute Awards – one of the world’s most prestigious food and beverage certifications. Earning 93 points, Godawan 100 was the highest-scoring product in the Spirits and Liquor category. The limited edition expression was also awarded the 3 Stars Superior Taste Award (Exceptional Product), along with Godawan’s 01 Rich and Rounded expression. The brand’s other bespoke variant, Godawan 02 Fruit & Spice, was awarded the 2 Stars Superior Taste Award (Remarkable Product). Evaluated through a blind tasting session by world-class chefs, sommeliers, and taste-experts, the Superior Taste Awards recognize the highest quality products across the global F&B spectrum. The awards follow an objective scoring methodology based on the 5 International Hedonic Sensory Analysis criteria.
MLSA (MicroLiquor Spirit Awards) Competition
Godawan’s 01 and 02 expressions were awarded Triple Gold Medals for both liquid and packaging at the 2024 MLSA Competition. Established in 2011, the MLSA Competition is a highly coveted global spirits competition, dedicated to recognizing and highlighting craft products and small-batch distillation. The Triple Gold Medal is awarded to spirits that offer exceptional taste and unmatched quality.
Speaking on the occasion, Vikram Damodaran, Chief Innovation Officer at Diageo India, said, “Godawan is more than just a single malt whisky; it represents our commitment to pioneering new frontiers in liquid innovation, Indian craftsmanship, and sustainability. We are incredibly proud of Godawan’s continued success on the international stage, reaffirming our dedication to delivering exceptional quality made-in India spirits. This recognition also solidifies our position as a global leader and inspires us to keep pushing the boundaries of whisky production.”
In April 2024, Godawan 100 made India proud at the London Spirits Competition, where it was awarded ‘Single Malt Whisky of the Year’. With only 100 bottles made available, Godawan 100 was launched as a rare Collector’s Edition single malt that boasts pronounced tropical notes, a lighter palate and a short finish. Its sweet palate reveals notes of caramel, charcoal, cinnamon, and anise, leading to a long, dry finish.
Crafted in Rajasthan, Godawan is bringing to life a range of Indian single malts that will cater to every palate – Light and Floral, Fruity and Spicy, Rich and Rounded, Full bodied and Smoky. It achieves this by crafting a mother liquid that is flexible enough to manifest itself across each flavour profile. Godawan’s 01 Rich and Rounded expression offers notes of sultanas and dried fruits on the nose, and raisin, sultana, fig, and apricot on the palate. The finish ends with mature wood, caramel, and a butteriness like baklava. Godawan’s 02 Fruit and Spice expression has fruity aromas on the nose and a palate that boasts rich fruit and floral notes, along with vanilla, sweet ginger, and coconut. It leaves a lingering finish with a dash of spice and roasted coffee beans.
